Life’s a roller coaster, with twists and turns, ups and downs, just like Cadwell park. After the catastrophic engine failure at Brands Hatch, tension was high in the bright autumn sunshine for the challenge of the Lincolnshire circuit.
Friday’s testing began with gentle running in of the engine which meant Saturday morning qualifying Lee could go at full tilt achieving pole position for both races.
The team advised Lee, he only needed to finish in the points to keep the championship alive and be in a strong position heading to Donington, Lee did exactly what a true racing driver would do, he won both races from the front controlling the lead.
With close rival Scott having a DNF in race 1, this confirmed Lee as 2013 Formula Jedi champion with 1 round to go. Also equalling the most wins in a season (9). A fantastic achievement in what is only Lee’s second season in the class after coming 3rd in 2012.
Lee later said “This has been a fantastic year winning the championship, I’m so greatful to all the team. The mechanics Ross, Darren and Dean, Team owners Frazer and John for preparing and looking after the car, Dad and Tom for Managing and promoting, mum for the packed lunches and Kirsty for keeping me motivated”. ” I’m now Looking foward to Donington on the 19-20th October the venue in which I won my first Jedi race and still hold the lap record”.
